About What AI Fits
Last updated
What AI Fits is a directory of AI tools where the pricing is right.
That sounds like a low bar. It is not. Search for any AI tool and you will find a dozen directories listing a price the vendor stopped charging a year ago, a "free plan" that no longer exists, and a five-star score with no method behind it. The category moves fast, and most directories were built to be published once and monetised forever.
What we do differently
Prices come from the vendor's pricing page, with a date attached. Every tool page carries a Verified stamp for the month we last read the source. If we could not find a price, it says not disclosed, we do not guess.
Free tiers are described in real units. Not "generous free plan" but 300 transcription minutes/month, 3 lifetime file imports, 5 workspace members. The cap is usually the thing that decides whether a tool works for you.
Every tool gets criticised. Each page has a Where it falls short section with specific, sourced drawbacks, price changes forced on existing users, quality failures on hard inputs, features locked behind the top plan. A listing with no downsides is an advertisement.
The score is shown as arithmetic. Six criteria, published weights, per-criterion scores, and the contribution of each to the total, on every page. See how we rate.
Nothing can be bought. No sponsored placement, no paid reviews, no ranking boosts. Vendors cannot pay to appear, to move up, or to have a drawback removed.
What is in the index today
264 tools across 22 categories, each with verified pricing, plan limits, platform coverage, API availability, scored drawbacks, and alternatives drawn from the same index. Coverage deliberately mixes the tools everyone knows with smaller and newer products that the big directories never got around to listing properly.
We would rather have 264 pages you can act on than 3,000 stubs.
How we make money
Some outbound links to tool websites are affiliate links: if you subscribe after clicking, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate status has no effect on whether a tool is listed, how it scores, or where it ranks, and most tools in the index have no affiliate programme at all. Full detail: affiliate disclosure and editorial policy.
Who is behind it
What AI Fits is an independent project, not a vendor, not a VC-backed marketplace, and not owned by any company whose products it lists. Research, scoring, and writing are done in-house, with source links on each tool page so you can check the work rather than trust it.
